Proposed deletion of Perri Reavis

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Perri Reavis, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No indication this person meets Wikipedia's general notability criteria or its notability criteria for people. It technically qualifies for speedy deletion under criteria A7 but there's no harm giving people 5 days to add stuff. I will canvas the Dallas and Radio Wikiprojects for help.

Perri Reavis is a radio personality in Dallas, Texas. As members of a related WikiProject, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 01:05, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. -- Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:23, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Notability of radio presenters

Are there any notability guidelines for radio presenters, as there are with (for example) athletes and musicians? I'm namely asking in relation to UK-based radio presenters, and what they must have done - or which coverage they must have received - in order to warrant an article. Article alerts

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. -- Headbomb {???????????? - WP Physics} 09:35, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

Need discussion and references re. Digital TV Antennas

One of the fast-changing areas of antenna usage is broadcast of digital TV signals. The Antenna article needs a section on this, or links to a section on the subject. Search doesn't seem to help much with this (so far, though I'm still looking). Basic information should include broadcast frequencies, antenna types, expected range. OTR question

I note that there's an external link format found on the project page for a link to The Internet Archive. Some of the links to OTR programs I've found have external links to commercial sites, and I've been changing those to the Internet Archive; I don't think anyone will disagree with that one. I've also been adding links to OTR holdings in the Internet Archive where none exist; again, probably unchallengable. Is the external link format on the previous page suggesting that all OTR articles should link to the Archive wherever possible? Also, I'm not precisely sure that the use of the external link format on the project page is, and would appreciate some enlightenment. Is this a category that's meant to identify articles that are linked to radio archives at the Internet Archive? Accounting4Taste:talk 18:08, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.

We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.

If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Maybe I could put in a request here for a new article on a comedy on Radio 4 called "The Write Stuff"? Possible new Category?

Are there enough articles or possible articles to warrant a category called "Children's radio shows"? I ask because I saw someone try to add something of that nature to an article, but the category didn't exist. If it matters, there are already at least two articles on children's radio shows that I myself know of: From the Top, and The Standard School Broadcast. Never mind, I just discovered the "Children's radio" category. -- Softlavender (talk) 19:44, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Chicken Egg Cart Horse

An article about a Radio show was inadequately merged into an article about its host. The original article was Pat O'Daniel and His Hillbilly Boys which is now redirected to that of his father, W. Lee "Pappy" O'Daniel. The argument being the radio article added nothing to the Pappy article. What the decision makers failed to notice was the importance of the radio show in the launching of the career of the Governor of Texas. The character was also the basis for a similar character in the Oscar winning " O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

As many in this group already know, radio was the "internet" of the 1930s. The popularity of the show essentially served to get the man elected Governor. I feel they got it wrong. the Pappy article is inadequate, in that it relies so much on the radio articles content. There was some minor disagreement on the edit history page, but no real discussion. I was on wikihiatus at the time.

I'm considering action. But wonder what this community thinks. Am I biased because I started the radio article? I feel Wikipedia is now and ancient biased, and overlooks that which is not old enough, but still new. 60s TV suffers from t his too, I am afraid. User_talk:Eusebeus did the merge/redirect User:P._S._Burton reversed it. no edit war erupted.

Would it be appropriate to redirect General Electric Theater with that of Ronald Reagan? K3vin (talk) 07:43, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Gznollo article

It's nominated for speedy deletion, so may not last long, but is Gznollo for real or is it a current recording being passed off as a historic show? If the article gets deleted before you can see it, it merely says:

Gznollo was a low-budget comedy radio series (created in the film noir style) which ran from September 1958 to October 1975. The programme - set in the fictional town of Grimsburgh - followed the exploits of grumpy detective Cesar Gznollo in his attempts to fight crime, most notably in the form of his arch-nemesis Pocket Apple.

A previous edit said that it ran on "XZ Radio" in the U.S.. There's a EL to http://www.gznollofansite.blogspot.com/. The page creator was Gznollofan and a contributor was 217.33.230.11. -- TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 15:57, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Radio articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Radio articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (?) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!
